Located on the Upper East Side of New York City, we are on a mission to create a simplified path for everyone to explore wellness in a way that meets their unique physical, mental, and spiritual needs.

Why work at Sage Sound?

We come to work every day because we enjoy working with each other, and we exemplify our core values in everything we do. These are our guiding principles that inform both why we work and how we work as a team. We believe:

  • that wellness comes first for our team, our partners, and our customers.
  • that each of us is inherently whole and capable of greatness.
  • in a culture of kindness and respect.
  • in assuming positive intent of others.
  • that authenticity should be celebrated.

What We’re Looking For:

As a Massage Therapist on our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional massage therapy services to our clients. Your expertise in various massage techniques and your ability to create a soothing and rejuvenating experience will contribute to the overall well-being of our clients. This is an opportunity to work in a supportive and positive environment that values personal growth, client satisfaction, and a holistic approach to wellness.

Here are some of the qualities we look for in our team members:

  • “Good days” people – relentlessly positive, service-minded and always seeking to make someone’s day better.
  • Confident communicators – you know that customer service (like wellness) isn’t one-size-fits-all. You make things easy and enjoyable for our guests and contribute to an overall experience that they will crave returning to.
  • Emotional intelligence – you love getting to know people and helping them explore and discover products and routines that will make them feel good. You care about your customers, understand the importance of empathy and know how to respond to customers based upon their needs.
  • Problem Solvers – you enjoy a good challenge, can effectively navigate through change, and love being a part of the solution. You take pride in your work and take ownership in all your tasks.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform a variety of massage techniques, including Swedish, deep tissue, sports, prenatal, and hot stone, tailored to meet the specific needs and preferences of each client. Customize treatments based on individual health conditions, injuries, or client requests.
  • Conduct thorough consultations with clients to understand their medical history, current health conditions, and specific areas of concern. Assess client needs and goals to determine the most appropriate massage techniques and treatment plans.
  • Create a relaxing and welcoming environment for clients throughout their massage therapy sessions. Provide excellent customer service by actively listening, communicating effectively, and addressing client concerns and preferences.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on client needs, goals, and preferences. Determine the frequency and duration of sessions, as well as the recommended number of sessions for optimal results.
  • Adhere to high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation. Ensure that massage rooms, equipment, and supplies are clean, organized, and properly maintained. Follow health and safety protocols to protect both clients and yourself.
  • Educate clients about the benefits of massage therapy, including stress reduction, pain relief, improved circulation, and overall well-being. Provide recommendations for self-care practices, stretching exercises, and lifestyle modifications to enhance the effects of massage therapy.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including treatment plans, session notes, and client progress. Keep track of client preferences, allergies, contraindications, and any changes in health conditions.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a valid massage therapy license or certification from a recognized institution. Meet all state and local requirements for practicing massage therapy.
  • Proficient in a variety of massage modalities, including Swedish, deep tissue, sports, prenatal, and hot stone massage. Knowledge of additional techniques such as aromatherapy or reflexology is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and the musculoskeletal system. Ability to identify and address specific muscle groups and areas of tension or discomfort.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with clients. Active listening skills to understand client needs and preferences. Ability to explain massage techniques, procedures, and benefits in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to perform massage therapy sessions for extended periods while maintaining good posture and technique. Possess the physical strength and dexterity to apply appropriate pressure and perform various massage movements.
  • Demonstrated empathy and sensitivity towards clients' physical and emotional well-being. Ability to create a safe and nurturing environment that promotes relaxation, trust, and healing.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Uphold ethical standards, client confidentiality, and integrity in all interactions. Adhere to professional boundaries and codes of conduct.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to effectively manage client appointments. Punctuality and the ability to maintain a consistent schedule are essential.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with other professionals to provide integrated care to clients. Willingness to support colleagues and contribute to a positive and harmonious work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with customers. Ability to actively listen, understand customer needs, and provide personalized recommendations.
  • Flexible and open to change in a dynamic and evolving work environment. Able to handle customer feedback, resolve challenges, and adapt treatment plans as necessary.
  • Genuine interest in health, wellness, and self-care practices. Demonstrated enthusiasm for helping customers on their wellness journey and promoting a holistic approach to beauty and well-being.
